Livestock Infrastructure Support Program (LISP)

The Livestock Infrastructure Support Program (LISP) is an initiative of the Government of Rwanda funded by the Africa Development Bank to cover all the 30 Districts of Rwanda. Under this program, a five year project that focuses on dairy value chain has been designed to cover five Districts of Rwanda (Nyagatare, Gatsibo, and Kayonza in the East; Rusizi and Nyamasheke in the West) and will be implemented in partnership with Heifer International. Rwandans have been keeping cattle and livestock which have a potential to move them to higher levels of income. Despite this, most Rwandan smallholder farmers need to be linked to services and markets to be able to maximize the potential that the livestock can play in their livelihoods.
